Two BDFM militants surrender
Aizawl, April 29 (PTI): Two insurgents belonging to the Bru Democratic Front of Mizoram (BDFM) surrendered before the police in Lawngtlai district, police said here today. The two insurgents - Phedela and Phulorai -, both residents of Nghalimlui hamlet, surrendered at the Vaseiitlang police station near the Mizoram-Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Lawngtlai district on Thursday, a delayed report reaching here today said. A split in the Bru outfit resulted in some of them entering Mizoram after leaving their hideout in Bangladesh and five armed militants were arrested by the Police recently.
NSCN (K) militant arrested
Itanagar, April 29 (PTI): Security forces arrested a NSCN (K) militant with arms and ammunition at Longding district in Arunachal Pradesh, a defence spokesman said today. Following intelligence inputs, personnel of the Khonsa battalion of Assam Rifles launched an operation at Kunsa village and caught the militant yesterday. A point 22 mm pistol with five live rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession, Defence spokesman Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer said in a statement here.
Heroin worth Rs 8.50 lakh seized, two persons arrested
Aizawl, Apr 29 (PTI): Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department officials seized 236 grams of heroin, worth Rs 8.50 lakh in the local market and arrested two persons in this connection, official sources said today. Excise and Narcotics department Spokesman Zohmingthanga said that 223 grams of heroin was seized from the possession of Hrangkapruma (39) of Champhai town last evening. In Aizawl, 13 grams of heroin was seized from the possession of C Rosangi (45) of Mimbung village in Champhai district last evening. The seized contraband was worth around Rs 8.50 lakh.
China’s claim on Arunachal baseless: BJP
Itanagar, April 29 (PTI): China’s claim on Arunachal Pradesh is baseless as it is an integral part of India, state BJP President Tapir Gao said today. “China s claim is baseless. India has no boundary with China but with Tibet since China forcibly occupied Tibet in 1959 and they want to expand their boundary upto Arunachal which will not be accepted by the people of the state”, Gao told reporters here. Earlier, the party staged a protest rally here against renaming of six places in the state by China. They submitted a memorandum to Governor P B Acharya.
