  • DIMAPUR — A five-day long North East NSS Festival 2025 on the theme ‘Viksit Bharat’ concluded on Saturday 14 at Dzüü Resort, Rüsoma village under Kohima district.

  • Addressing the valedictory function, Anthony Ngullie, Commissioner & Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, hailed the festival as a shining example of youth energy, community spirit, and collective aspiration towards a Viksit Bharat, envisioning a developed and self-reliant India.

  • The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a public service programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

  • Ngullie described the NSS festival theme ‘Viksit Bharat’ as befitting “as our nation strides towards the goal of transforming a developed country by 2047 which is the centenary of our independence.”

  • He emphasised that youth energy, innovation, and commitment will propel India's transformation into a developed nation.

  • Lauding the NSS activities from environmental initiatives, social outreach programmes and cultural exhibitions to leadership workshops, he said, “The movement of young minds and compassionate hearts is what sets the NSS apart from others.”

  • The officials also lauded the NSS volunteers as nation-builders, emphasising that every act of service, no matter how small, contributes to a stronger, more inclusive, and equitable India, whether through actions like tree planting, education, health camps, or promoting gender equality.
  • Results of various competitions

  • Extempore speech: First - Nisha Rai (Sikkim), second - Luhwang Konyak (Nagaland), third - Eliyo Awungshi (Manipur).

  • Poster making: First - Karambir (Assam), second - Jopin Riba (Arunachal Pradesh), third- Rukuwe-ii Kanuo (Nagaland).

  • Slogan: First - Somhang Aboh (Arunachal Pradesh), second - Mebalari Nonghum (Meghalaya), third - Jumku Bai ( Arunachal Pradesh) and Suparna Roy (Tripura).

  • Cultural dance: First -Nagaland, second - Arunachal Pradesh, third - Manipur.

  • Ruokuovituo Zatsu, State NSS Officer, said that 300 NSS volunteers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura and including host Nagaland joined this festival, held from June 10 to 14.

  • He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for generously sponsoring a sightseeing tour to key Kohima landmarks and hosting dinner for the participants on June 13.

  • The festival was organised by NSS Cell under Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports, in collaboration with Regional Directorate of NSS, Guwahati, and sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, GoI.
