DIMAPUR — North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) observed the National Unity Day on Friday, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, at Peace Centre in Chümoukedima.
An update from the institute stated that the observance was held to honour his visionary leadership and pivotal role in uniting the nation after independence.
It stated that Dr. Toli H Kiba, assistant professor at NEISSR, delivered an inspiring message on the life, vision and enduring contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. She emphasised Patel’s unwavering commitment to social justice, national integration and his pioneering efforts in bringing together the diverse princely states to form a united India.

Pointing out that India today faces divisions in many areas - socially, politically, and regionally, Dr. Kiba stressed that it is crucial for citizens to look back and remember the great leader who once united the nation. She also urged everyone to uphold Patel’s ideals by promoting unity, understanding and respect for diversity in every sphere of life.
She further stressed the importance of unity in diversity and encouraged everyone to uphold those values in their daily lives by fostering mutual respect, understanding and cooperation among all communities.
It stated that NEISSR has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing socially responsible citizens and promoting national unity, peace and harmony.
