The recently formed North East Cricket Development Committee (NECDC) has written a memorandum to the BCCI calling for formulation of strategic programs to ensure development of the game at all levels in the region.
The memorandum, addressed to the honorary secretary of BCCI, Anurag Thakur, states that the program should include more cricket activities, inter-state tournaments, exposure tours, improvement and augmentation of infrastructure, coaching, clinics for umpires and scorers including orientation by experts and competent resource persons of BCCI in respective fields like AVP and accounts. The memorandum has been appended by NECDC convener, Neiphiu Rio. The NECDC has called for sufficient assistance to NADP state association including enhancement of annual grant/subsidy on regular basis. It requested the BCCI to take into consideration the difficulties of northeast states and take into account the “one state-one vote” recommendation of the Supreme-appointed Lodha commission.
It also asked the BCCI to intervene and advice its member states to refrain from making unsubstantiated and untrue allegations against BCCI members from the region on cricketing activities. The NECDC has also called for inclusion of Mizoram as member of the BCCI. It also assured its support and cooperation to the present leadership of the BCCI.
