  • DIMAPUR — North East Christian University (NECU) conducted a one-day entrepreneurship awareness programme on March 29, equipping students with practical skills to enhance their entrepreneurial and career prospects.

  • According to an update, the initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasising vocational training alongside academics.

  • A total of five specialised training programmes were held in food processing (baking, pickling, and jam making), soap making, sheet metal and woodwork, and solid waste management. These workshops encouraged students to build enterprises rather than solely relying on traditional job markets.

  • Kapil Thapa, director of PM and HR, Capacity Training Centre at NECU, emphasised that degrees are not golden tickets to success but tools to navigate real-world challenges. He encouraged students to seek interdisciplinary opportunities, apply their knowledge practically, and think beyond conventional career paths.

  • Awalo Keppen, manager at NTTC, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the need for adaptability and an entrepreneurial mindset in today's fast-changing job market.

  • The event was successfully executed with the support of NECU’s administration, faculty, students, and technical assistance from the Nagaland Tool Room and Training Centre (NTTC).

  • It added that NECU welcomes students and parents to visit its campus at Burma Camp for free career guidance and explore scholarships and academic programmes offered by NECU.
