The 1st North East Aero-Sports Hot Air Balloons and Para-Motor Fiesta, 2023 came to an end on Thursday at Phubala village in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Thursday.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, ministers Govindas Konthoujam, L Susindro Meitei,Rajya Sabha MP Maharajah Leishemba Sanajaoba, Moirang MLA Th Shanti, LDA Chairman M Asnikumar and officials of the 57 Mountain Divisions attended the day’s closing function.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Biren Singh proposed opening of a permanent aero sports facility after exploring its feasibility and finding a suitable location.
Thanking the Indian Army, who provided technical support through its Adventure Wing to the event, he highlighted that Manipur is suitable for such adventure sports activities.
Acknowledging the Army’s contribution in safeguarding the nation, Biren Singh also highlighted that Manipur produces the highest number of defense officers per capita of the population, maybe next only to Punjab.
‘Today, Manipur is also becoming a tourist hotspot, he said highlighting the Indian National Army (INA)advanced headquarter at Moirang, Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang KHunou near Keibul Lamjao, the only floating park in world in Manipur’s Bishnupur district and the upcoming G-20 events in the state,’ he said.
Biren Singh also appealed to the people along the highway to accord a warm and traditional welcome to the visiting delegates of the G-20 event which will include 50 foreign delegates.
Earlier, in the morning the Chief Minister also inspected the Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou, a major destination of the G-20 delegates, who will be arriving here on Friday and Heritage Site INA Headquarters at Moirang.
