
BIMAPUR — The 3rd Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 Volleyball (Men and Women) commenced on Thursday at Volleyball Arena-D, Sovima, with Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Secretary General of the Nagaland Olympic Association, attending the event as the special guest.
According to an update, during the opening ceremony, Metha expressed that volleyball exemplifies the essence of sports, being one of the most popular and inclusive games that can be played in every nook and corner of the world.
Metha, while encouraging the players, urged them to be ambassadors of their districts and demonstrate sportsmanship with discipline and excellence. He also commended the Nagaland Volleyball Association (NVA) for its excellent contributions and support to the Olympic Association.
During the programme, N Jacob Yanthan, President of NVA, stated in his presidential address that the Olympic and Paralympic Games are a celebration of determination, sportsmanship, discipline, and unity.
Yanthan also expressed confidence that this edition of the games will be memorable and impactful, showcasing the unwavering spirit of the youngsters and the support of the community.
He also informed that around 20 players will be selected from this volleyball tournament and given coaching for one month. These players will then participate in the North East Olympic Games.
