NOPG 2024: Chümoukedima to face Niuland in cricket final

DIMAPUR — The semifinal matches of the cricket tournament being played as part of the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games (NOPG) 2024 saw Niuland and Chümoukedima progress to the finals on Saturday.

In the first semifinal, Niuland defeated Dimapur by 85 runs after posting 180/3. Dimapur could only manage 95/10 in reply. Chümoukedima comfortably chased down Mon's score of 46/10 in the second semifinal to win by nine wickets.

The final match between Niuland and Chümoukedima will be played on Monday at 12 pm at the Sovima Cricket Ground. On the same day, at 8:30 am, a match between Dimapur and Mon will be played for third place.

Football: The group stage matches of the football tournament being played as part of the NOPG 2024 saw some one-sided contests on Saturday.

In Group A, Dimapur stunned Mokokchung 4-2, while Phek prevailed over Longleng by the same margin. Group B witnessed victories for Mon and Niuland against Zunheboto and Tuensang, with scores of 5-1 and 3-1, respectively.

In Group C, Kiphire lost 0-7 to Peren, while Kohima defeated Shamator 1-0. Chümoukedima and Wokha secured victories in their respective Group D matches against Noklak and Tseminyu, with scores of 2-0 and 6-2, respectively.
