Non-functioning cooperative societies in Kohima face cancellation under the Nagaland Cooperative Societies Act if they fail to respond by August 31.

DIMAPUR — The Office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Kohima, has issued a notification order regarding the cancellation of non-functioning and dormant cooperative societies in the district.
This initiative is undertaken in accordance with the provisions of Section 92(2), read with sections 82 and 83 of the Nagaland Cooperative Societies Act, 2017, according to a DIPR report.
As part of the ongoing cancellation drive initiated by the Department of Cooperation, a list of such dormant and non-functioning cooperative societies has been identified and will be displayed on the notice board of the office from August 1. Individual notifications are also being dispatched to the concerned societies via registered post.

Any society listed may submit a written appeal for revival of its functioning to the Office of the Assistant Registrar on or before August 31.
Failure to respond within the specified time frame will lead to a recommendation for cancellation being forwarded to the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Nagaland. It has been stated that the notification comes into effect immediately.
