Dimapur, Aug. 7 (EMN): Following the creation of Noklak as the 12th district of Nagaland, the people of the region came in large number to receive the first deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police of the district on August 6 at DC office complex, Noklak.
Speaking on the occasion, advisor of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Evaluation, Economics and Statistics, L Khumo thanked the chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, deputy CM Y Patton, cabinet ministers, advisors, MLAs and the government for their concern towards the Khiamniungan community and declaring Noklak as the 12th district of Nagaland.
“Today we are here with the deputy commissioner of Noklak Reny Wilfred and the superintendent of police, Dr. Pritpal Kaur Batra, whose names will be remembered for generations by the people of Noklak and hope that they will bring positive changes to the newly created district,” Khumo said.
Even as the people in the area still lack behind in every spheres, he urged the people to be law abiding citizens and give continuous support to the government, a DIPR report stated on Friday.
Also speaking on the occasion, advisor of Prisons and Printing and Stationery, H Haiying said, ‘August 6 will be a historic day for the people of Noklak’. He stated that creation of a district was a fulfilment of long-felt dreams of the people.
Welcoming the first DC and SP, Haiying said that challenging tasks are ahead of them. He also urged all the citizens of Noklak district in particular; state and country in general to extend full co-operation and work for the uplift and development of the newly born Noklak district.
The first deputy commissioner of Noklak, Reny Wilfred, in his speech, sought co-operation from civil societies, churches, NGOs and different civil organisations, and also expressed happiness over the warm reception. He assured to emphasise on health, education, skill development, agriculture sectors etc.
The first superintendent of police, Noklak, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, in her speech, expressed delight to be posted in such a far-flung area and hoped to bring about positive changes. Describing the Khianmiungan community as talented and hardworking, she stated that positive changes would come only when the people work together.
Also speaking on the occasion, president of Khiamniungan Tribal Council KTC), L Ngon expressed gratitude to the PDA government led by Neiphiu Rio, bureaucrats led by the chief secretary and the support from all the tribes and NGOs for creating Noklak as the 12th district of Nagaland.
The programme was chaired by SDO (Civil) Noklak C Puniang, while a song was presented by B Hangming. Rev. Pinglang led the dedication of DC office which was followed by unveiling of office signboard by the advisors.
Meanwhile, Nokmei Kam (Peace Morung), which was constructed at DC official residence at Noklak was dedicated by Rev. Hempao, executive secretary of KBCA.
