Wokha, Feb. 12 (EMN): Conveying the state government’s endeavours to deliver facilities at the doorstep, advisor of School Education, KT Sukhalu, stated that no children should be deprived of receiving education due to social and economic bondages and insisted on maintaining the students enrolment ratio in government schools.
Sukhalu stated this during the inauguration programme for upgrade of Government High School (GHS) to a Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Sungro town under Wokha district on Saturday.
He stated that the best investment is not having high assets or business but on education of children as they are the future of tomorrow.
He has appreciated the advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, for his desire to bring higher secondary education at the doorstep of Sungro range public and for his visionary works. Stating that Lotha community ranked third highest in literacy rate of the state with a good number of officers, Sukhalu has called for consistency.
He also urged the village education committee (VEC) to ensure smooth functioning of the school and to produce good results. Stating that the government has delivered the need and desire of the people, Sukhalu urged the public to take care of the facilities with a sense of belonging for further expansion in the coming years.
Sukhalu further informed that the building of a newly inaugurated GHSS in Sungro would be completed in 2022.
Also speaking on the occasion, Mhathung has appreciated the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, for heeding to the voice of the people in delivering the much awaited dream. Mhathung also termed as a proud moment for the people of Sungro range and the 39 Sanis assembly constituencies to have a first government higher secondary school. In this regard, he sought constant support to bring more development in the constituency.
He also informed that all requirements have been put in place for upgrade of Sanis Government High School to a Government Higher Secondary School and waiting approval and recognition from the government.
He further urged the village councils and the public to utilise the facility effectively and deliver notable results stating that it should not only be the sole responsibility of teachers and Education department to produce good results. He added that it should be a collective effort of the people.
The director of School Education, Wonthungo Tsopoe, informed that 16 schools have been upgraded by the state government through the close observation and interest of the chief minister including primary school to high school and high schools to higher secondary in 2021. With the upgrade to Government Higher Secondary School, he stated that Sungro would now become a nerve centre of learning for the locality.
Advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, encouraged the students, who are preparing to appear for their HSLS examinations, to bring good results so they might continue their education from the newly upgraded higher secondary school.
Advisor of Industries and Commerce, Imnatiba, has congratulated Mhathung Yantha for delivering the desired needs of people, while the deputy commissioner of Wokha, Orenthung Lotha, called upon the public of the range to nurture the new upgraded schools to produce more intellectuals.
A brief history of Sungro Government High School was delivered by its headmaster, Nchumbemo Jami. He informed that the decision to upgrade Sungro GHSS was approved on July 29, 2021 (Arts Stream). He also informed that 53 students would appear for their HSLC exams from Sungro High School.
Advisors Medo Yhokha and Kazheto Kinimi also attended the inaugural programme.
