DIMAPUR — The Nagaland NET Qualified Forum
(NNQF) and the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) have renewed
their call to the department of Higher Education to reconsider its decision to
regularise contractual assistant professors.
In a joint appeal addressed to Minister for Higher Education
Temjen Imna Along, the two groups reminded that NNQF had previously submitted a
representation on the issue in September 2022, “following the statements made
in the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly discussion that 154 contractual
assistant professor posts were in the process of regularisation.”
The latest letter, they stated, was a reiteration and a
reminder of the previous appeal.
“With all due respect, we would like to state that the case
(The Nagaland NET Qualified Forum Vs the State of Nagaland-Case no.: WP(C)
340/2022 and WP (C) 188-198, 208 /2023) filed by the NNQF against the
backdoor/irregular/contractual appointments in the various departments of
Higher Education is sub judice in court, and if any regularisation takes place,
it will be viewed as against the interim of the writ petitions, amounting to
contempt of court.
“As stated previously, we continue to support the idea of
age condonation/relaxation for the contractual employees so that they can also
take part in the right to equal opportunity and an open-fair competition
through direct recruitment, NPSC, CESE, along with all other aspirants,” the
letter read.
