Dimapur, March 29 (EMN): The working committee of six Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) has empowered the civil and military authorities of the respective political groups to take severe action against defectors before they disturb, destabilise and destroy the unity and integrity of the NNPGs and derail the ongoing political dialogue with Government of India (GoI).
The working committee of six NNPGs, presently negotiating with the GoI, has issued this declaration in an emergency meeting held in New Delhi on the issue of rampant defection of national workers among the NNPGs.
“These are historic days for the Naga people. Nothing can be more dangerous than elements with ulterior motives who do not understand the meaning of Indo-Naga political solution,” a joint press release issued by the working committee convenor N Kitovi Zhimomi, co-convenors Wangtin Naga, Zhopra Vero, Kiumukam and Z Hozheto Chophy stated.
Knowing fully well that there would be restless, selfish and immature individuals within the NNPGs, who would seek higher ranks and plump assignments through defection with least regard for the progress and status of the Indo-Naga political dialogue, it stated that the working committee had signed a joint declaration/commitment on May 13, 2017, September 19, 2017, October 6, 2017, and reaffirmed the same in January 2018. The declaration to this effect was made in upholding the principle of reconciliation and unity in letter and spirit so as not to entertain any defection among the NNPGs and also cautioning those defectors within the six NNPGs to rejoin the parent institutions at the earliest.
While stating that much reasoning and patience have been shown to these elements, the working committee said it had noted the disturbing character and activities of few national workers among the NNPGs. As those elements appeared to be deaf and blind to the situational reality in pursuit of individual benefits, the convener and co-conveners of the NNPGs working committee has made the final appeal to these restless and unsettled national workers to recommit and rededicate themselves to whichever national political group they first affiliated and owe allegiance to.
In the light of the above state circumstances, the working committee has empowered the civil and military authorities of respective political groups to identify and deal with those unprincipled members before they disturb, destabilise and destroy the unity and integrity of the NNPGs and derail the ongoing political dialogue with GoI.
