Lauds activities of ACAUT for social change, but wonders if it has hidden agenda to weaken the Naga national movement

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 5
THE NNC/FGN has condemned the ACAUT press statement that was widely published in the local dailies on August 4, and pointed out that ACAUT owed an apology for misleading, irresponsible and anti-national statement.
The NNC/FGN under President, Brig. (Retd.) S. Singnya expressed surprise to read the last paragraph of the statement wherein it stated, “The ACAUT further stated that it’s a matter of concern for every Naga that such arbitrary and barbaric action of the NPGs as has been practiced by the NPGs against the Naga people for over sixty years in the name of national movement is anti-people to say the least...”
K.L. Kronu, Kilonser, Rali Wali, FGN, in a release issued today said, “History has many tales about patriots and traitors. Traitors betray national interests for selfish vested interests, but traitors have seldom prospered. Patriotism is a heroic virtue whereas an act of treason/treachery against the nation is considered as the lowest of the low acts, which cannot be condoned, erased or pardoned.”
As far as ACAUT acts as an agent of social change, fighting against social evils like corruption and unjustifiable taxation, the NNC/FGN said, it appreciated but at the same time wondered if ACAUT has some hidden agenda to demean the Naga National movement and act as a divisive force to weaken the national movement.
The NNC/FGN said, the 16 (sixteen) ACAUT signatories are either totally unaware of the history of Naga National movement or are agents acting at the behest India and Myanmar as no right thinking true Naga would even dream of coming out with such an unacceptable statement against the NPGs which not even the GoI or Burma (Myanmar) has made till date.
“We are all aware that the Naga National Movement is a Naga people’s movement, which arose out of the desire and aspiration of the Nagas to live as a free and independent nation, free from foreign domination and the freedom to determine our own destiny. Right from the letter to the Simon Commission in 1929, to the Declaration of Naga Independence on 14th August, 1947 which were affirmed by the Plebiscite of 16th May, 1951 which voted 99.9% in favour of Naga independence. They seem unaware of the many sacrifice made by the National workers and the Naga people who have borne untold sufferings and thousands of lives sacrificed for the Naga Cause. Many villages have been razed, our men tortured and our women raped and traumatized just because of our dream and desire to live as a nation, distinct and free.”
The NNC/FGN said that every right-thinking true-blooded Naga cherishes the fond desire to live as a free people, free from any foreign domination/ occupation and equal to citizens of the free nations of the world with the freedom to determine our own destiny.
“Inspite of many hardships and difficulties the Naga National workers of the Naga Political Groups have been continuing to work for Naga interests, bound by duty to be torchbearers of the Naga aspirations and desires and to continue the struggle till our long cherished dream is fulfilled.”
Kronu said, to term the more than sixty years of the Naga Political movement as arbitrary and barbaric action of the Naga Political Groups practiced against the Naga people was an insult to the pains and suffering borne by the people and the thousands of lives sacrificed in pursuit of the noble cause. It noted that the Naga National Movement is not only in name but it is a real national movement; it is not anti-people but a pro-Naga people movement aimed at freeing the Nagas from the yoke of foreign domination particularly that of India and Burma (Myanmar) and not targeted at or practiced against the Nagas as alleged.
