Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): The Naga National Council (Parent Body) on Sunday condoled the demise of late ‘Maj. General’ Yibenthung Kikon who passed away at his native village after a prolonged illness on Sep. 19.
A press release issued by the Information and Publicity Wing of the NNC-Parent Body said that Yibenthung Kikon was in the Naga army since 1956 and served the Naga people and the nation with devotion and stood firmly and honestly “for the service of Naga freedom”.
“He was one of the longest serving Naga army in Eastern Command in Konyak Region during the worst time of trouble and hardship in the Homeland,” the release stated while adding that the NNC had lost another sincere and dedicated gentleman who fought for the freedom of Naga people.
Lotha Region, NNC (parent body) condoles
The Lotha Region of NNC (parent body) on Sat. expressed heartfelt condolence over the sudden demise of ‘Major General’ Yibenthü Kikon who passed away on Sep. 19 at Yanthamo village Wokha. He was 93.
A condolence message issued by the president, Lotha region NNC (parent body), Yilow Humtsoe stated that Late. Yibenthüng Kikon first joined the NNC as a sergeant on June 20 1956 and ‘dedicated his life and worked for the struggle of Nagaland political solution’. Saying that Kikon was an exemplary leader, the message stated that the organisation has lost a soul who wholeheartedly dedicated to serve for the society.
While extending condolences to the bereaved family, it said that the Naga National Council (NNC), Lotha Region will always acknowledge the works of Late. Kikon and encouraged the family members to uphold their lives as an exemplary life of their departed father ‘who had a heart and soul of compassion and who dedicated to serve the people during his lifetime.
