NNC, FGN, NSCN (KK), NSCN (IM) cadres unite to hijack truck, driver rescued

Staff Reporter Dimapur, September 15 Personnel of Diphupar Police Station Dimapur arrested five persons in connection with the hijacking of a truck and kidnapping of its driver from Bharat Petrol Pump at 3rd Mile Dimapur on September 13. The arrested have been identified as ‘ss’ Maj. of FGN Kussum Konyak, 32, son of Thaoba Konyak of Yongkhao village under Mon district and present resident of Tolouzouma Dimapur, ‘ss’ Leacy of NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) Khumong Khiamniungan, 35, son of Posham of Noklak under Tuensang district and present resident of Half Nagarjan Dimapur, ‘ss’ Leacy of NNC Adini Zeliang, 42, son of late Aking Zeliang of Singra village under Taminglong Manipur and present resident of Noklak town, ‘ss’ Sgt. Maj. of FGN Khumong Khiamniungan, 32, son of Khunio of Noklak under Tuensang district and present resident of Half Nagarjan Dimapur and ‘ss’ Raju Peyu of NSCN (IM) Levi Zeliang, 35, son of Majemdin, of New Jalukie under Peren district. According to SDPO Dimapur and Diphupar PS OC, on the night of September 13 at around 10.30 pm, four occupants of an Assam registered blue colour Maruti car (AS-01/H-8111) had hijacked a truck (NL-01/K-7409) bound for Manipur and forced the driver into their vehicle leaving the truck behind at the petrol pump. Though no official complaint was received on that night, the in-charge of the truck received a ransom call the next day on 14 September from the kidnappers demanding for Rs 10 lakh or else they threatened to kill the driver. In this connection, an FIR was lodged at Diphupar police station by the truck in-charge on September 14. However, the police through some source received information shortly thereafter that some miscreants were trying to run off with the truck abandoned at the petrol pump. Acting on this information, the police rushed to the scene and apprehended three persons. During interrogation the three confessed to have kidnapped the driver following which the police raided the house at Masters Colony, Nagarjan where the driver was detained. The police rescued the driver and also managed to apprehend two other accomplices on the spot while two managed to escape. The police also recovered the Maruti car used for the act and 50 slips of extortion slips and one copy of extortion application was found in their possession. The kidnappers along with the seized Maruti car are in the custody of Diphupar police station. Police are on the lookout for the two absconding miscreants. The arrested have been charged and booked under Section 120 B/364 A/34 of the Indian Penal Code. Unidentified body recovered A highly decomposed body was recovered by the Diphupar police personnel Dimapur today around 4 pm. Staff of an oil depot recovered the body when they came across foul smell emitting from the petrol pump.
