Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): Two Naga groups not involved in the ongoing Indo-Naga talks have declared that they will not recognise any settlement that violates the ‘NNC Lakuti resolution of April 27, 1955’.
This decision was taken during a meeting between the Naga National Council (NNC) and Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) on Monday, according to a press release from the NNC.
The two groups asserted that they stand by the ‘declared Independence of Nagaland on August 14, 1947 and the national plebiscite of May 16, 1951 conducted under the leadership of AZ Phizo’.
“The Federal Government of Nagaland has been running the affairs of the nation under the Naga national flag and the provisions of the ‘yehzabo’ (constitution) of Nagaland since March 22, 1956. The NNC and FGN stand committed to the terms of the 1964 ceasefire agreement, which was signed by both the Federal Government of Nagaland and the government of India as two sovereign nations,” read the statement.
As for the Indo-Naga issue, the NNC and the FGN are still committed to a peaceful non-violent settlement between the two nations, they stated.
Also, in another statement, the president of NNC, ‘Gen. (Rtd)’ Thinoselie M Keyho said, ‘the NNC shall never ever betray our people and surrender to the Indian Constitution under any circumstances; we shall pursue our said Naga aspiration till we breathe our last’.
