The inter-state NCC camp at patkai Chirstian College in Dimapur has concluded on Saturday. Parliament Secretary for Youth Resources Sports and Music Task Force Khriehu Liezitsu presided over the concluding ceremony of the Special National Integration Camp of NCC on January 9 at Patkai Christian College, near Chumukedima, in Dimapur.
Ananya Boral, commanding Officer of the 37th Assam Rifles, Neilahoulie, Additional Director of YRS, and Dr Ilyas, deputy commissioner of Dimapur police, were also present during the closing ceremony.
Around 600 cadets of the National Cadets Corps from 17 directorates from all the corners of the country and around 100 cadets from the North East Region attended the Special National Integration Camp, the organizers said in a press release issued to the media on January 9. The camp was commanded by Brig MS Nikam, Group Commander of Group HQ in Kohima.N his speech, parliament secretary Khriehu Liezitsu greeted the ‘young bright’ NCC cadets and those who are in Nagaland as guests from different parts of the country. He described the cadets from the corners of the country as ‘mini India bubbling with energy and exuberance.’ He added in his speech that the NCC had been empowering youths in this country and instilling in them qualities of courage, intelligence, character and leadership.
Various activities were held during the 12-day camp prominent among them being the National Integration Awareness Competition, declamation, solo and group music and dance competitions reflecting the culture of the representative states.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and Disaster Management Activities were also conducted in an around Chumukedima. Educational visits to Kohima and the 37th Assam Rifles units were conducted for 600 cadets. Sports competitions in basketball (boys), volley ball (girls) and a tug of war (mixed) were played enthusiastically during the event, the organizers informed.
Speakers such as Maj Gen Deepak Saxena of the 3-Corps, Maj Gen MS Jaiswal of the Assam Rifles and Brig H S Cheema, commander of the 44th Infantry Brigade gave motivating talks about the roles of youths in nation building, ways to achieve national integration, avenues of entry into the armed forces and the importance of discipline and unity.
Khriehu Liezitsu gave away prizes to Best Cadets Aditya R. Nath of Karnataka and Goa Dte, Deepika Joshi of Uttarakhand Dte; the prizes for cultural events were awarded to Cadet Dubey of UP Dte and for group performance of Delhi and Maharashtra.
