Dimapur, May 13: In expressing resentment towards the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) for non release of fund, NNaga DAO executive board and all the chief functionaries of NGOs/ CBOs implementing Targeted Intervention (TI) have resolved to starts its first
phase of agitation by closing down all the Drop-In Centres (DICs) on May 17 and 18.
NNaga DAO press release stated that the members (NGOs and CBOs) were extremely frustrated by the fact that the grants mean for the said programs was not released or reimbursed by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and Nagaland State AIDS control Society (NSACS) despite their best effort by investing time, energy and resources in HIV targeted intervention programme.
It claimed that thousands of NGOs/ CBOs staff working in the field of HIV/AIDS, vendors, house rent etc. were not paid.
NNaga DAO has demanded NACO and NSACS to immediately release funds to their partner NGOs and CBOs as per the contract signed between NACO/ NSACS.
Meanwhile, NNaga DAO appealed to all the key populations to understand and cooperate with the partner NGOs/CBOs.
