Dimapur, June 2 (EMN): A one-day workshop on the theme "Love the waste, love your world, recycling is reinvention" was organised by New Market Women Organisation (NMWO) at New Market (Ser) Panchayat hall in Kohima on June 1.
Green Team Kohima members Mary Rutsa and Akuonuo Solo stressed on how to reduce, reuse and recycle the disposable items, enriched and exhibited them to the women participants.
They demonstrated their ideas and creativity showing the stools, flower baskets, cushions, pillows, carry bags, marketing bags etc made from using empty plastic bottles, old clothes, old shawls and newspapers.
They also displayed decoration pieces which were made from using empty rice sacks or coffee bottles.
Earlier, Green Team member, Francis R, while exhorting the gathering comprising of colony womenfolk, stressed on how to reduce the use of plastics.
He exemplified the alternative use of carry bags and market bags instead of plastic bags.
Francis invited the colony women so that the Green Team members could train them on recycling such disposal items.
Kovi Meyase, Administrator of KMC, who also spoke on the occasion, expressed his happiness and said New Market was able to survive and function without the government's help as they are not only “sayers but doers” in the colony.
He also appreciated Akuonuo and Mary, the two resource persons, for their humility, determination and hard work who shared their ideas and works which conveyed a message about human values.
The workshop commenced with the invocation prayer said by Pelhouzetuoü Rame, while Swedezhono Tsukru chaired the programme and the vote of thanks was delivered by Ruokuoneinuo Nakhro.
