THE Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) in strongest term has condemned the brutal and senseless assault of a woman by her husband , Mr.Thepfureu Metha on the 4th of September , 2014, in Kohima.
In a press release the general secretary, NMA states “such torture ,not only verbal and physical abuse but unconscionable attempt by the husband is beyond acceptable. We are deeply saddened to hear about such treatment being meted out by her own husband, which is humiliating and unacceptable by any womanhood. Violent crimes against women have been repeating in the recent days. We need more attention to seriously investigate and punished the culprit in its severest manner so that woman are protected from abusive husbands .Unless law takes strict action and creates a sense of fear in people , such sad incidents will continue to happen. NMA, demand for strong punitive action against the culprit in consonance with the Law”.
NMA also said it supports the appeal made by the Village Council, Sendenyu in apprehending the rapist Mr.Yhunkvulo Semp son of Lt.Pfuphega Semp, who is still absconding. Such insane and savage crime committed to a 75 year old woman, who is physically handicapped is shameful and does not deserve any place in a civilized society .
The release ends with the NMA , vehemently condemning and fervently appealing to the Law enforcing agencies to immediately arrest the culprit and ensure that the rule of law prevails.
