Dimapur, Dec. 9: The Nagaland Law Students' Federation (NLSF) has submitted a representation with a charter of demands to the President of India and Union HRD Minister through the Nagaland Governor.
Meeting with the Governor at Raj Bhavan Kohima on Friday, the NLSF representatives sought his recommendation to the representation. The Law students have demanded establishment of Law Department and Law Institute in Nagaland University which, they alleged, have been long denied by the State Government despite repeated appeals.
The grievances were deliberated upon with the Governor who assured to take necessary measures in the “genuine matter” and act accordingly to achieve the desired results, NLSF president Imliben Lemtur, general secretary Medochütuo Kiewhuo and publicity secretary Roland Zeliang said in a release. The Governor also strongly recommended the representation to be submitted to the Union Minister concerned to look into the genuine demand, the release said.
It further said the Governor asked the Law students' body to look after its own affairs seriously and also challenged it to take social issues so that changes would happen in the State.
The NLSF lauded the Governor as a very learned man who is not only concerned about the social cause but also has serious concern for the students of the State.
The Law students also strongly supported the anti-corruption drive by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and resolved to strictly adhere to and champion the cause of ‘corruption less’ State.
