KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 3: Highlighting the seriousness of the State legislators towards finding solution to the vexed Indo-Naga political problem, NLA Speaker, Chotisuh Sazo, said the Nagaland Legislative Forum (NLF) on Naga Political Issue has been playing the role of facilitator ever since its formation on May 25, 2015.
He informed that the Forum had met the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Interlocutor RN Ravi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and other central leaders and apprised them of the Naga issue dating back from 1929 till date. He also said that the Forum had submitted representation to the Prime Minister appealing to solve the Indo-Naga problem inclusive of all Naga nationalist groups and also to resume ceasefire with NSCN (K) while also appealing to repeal the imposition of Disturbed Area Act and Armed Forces Special Powers Act.
Chotisuh also said 60 NLA legislators had a consultative meeting with NSCN (IM) and other six Naga nationalist political groups, adding it had sent Naga Hoho and ENPO delegation to Myanmar to meet Khaplang with a request to resume ceasefire with Government of India.
Sazo was addressing a mammoth gathering during the inaugural function of Chozuba Town as the 29th Town Council in the State on October November 2. Chief Minister TR Zeliang formally inaugurated the Chozuba Town Council.
On the developmental front, Sazo said the people should not only depend on the government but work hard to improve and develop their respective towns and municipalities. “We talk but do not work to improve and develop our town,” Sazo said.
Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, TR Zeliang, his cabinet colleagues and Parliamentary Secretary for Municipal Affairs R Tohanba for granting Town Council to Chozuba, he said despite being one of the oldest towns in the State, Chozuba lacked development.
Nonetheless, he said the NPF-led DAN government has been taking up various developmental activities. He highlighted that during the last term (2008-13), DAN government had brought about Poly Technique, Block Development Office, Women Resource Centre while also establishing Special and Observation Homes in Khozuba town, Khuzani in Chesezou, K Basa and Rukizu; Subhas Chandra Bose Heritage site. He said the government had also undertaken construction of roads from NH-150 to Chokriba, Kizumetouma to Chozuba, Pfutsero to Chetheba PMGSY road.
Additionally, he stated the government had taken construction of Government High Schools at Chetheba and K Basa and EAC office in Chetheba. He said agri-link roads were also constructed in Phusachodu, K Bawe, K Basa, Suthozu to Khutsa via Suthozu Nasa. Rostrums were also constructed in Chozuba, Chetheba, Thipuzu, Runguzu Old and Thenyizu while water supply connection was provided to Chozuba, Suthozu Old, Chetheba, Khutsa, Phusachodu, Phuyoba, Rihuba, Chozuba.
Chotisuh also said that during the present term, government is undertaking construction of Chozuba town circular road, Indoor stadium in Thipuzu, Rostrum in Phusachodu; Agri-link roads in K Basa, Yoruba, Chozuba, Khusomi-Runguzu Nasa; water supply connection to Tenyizu, K Basa, Thipuzu and Phusachodu.
Chotisuh asserted that being one of the oldest towns, if the people of Chozuba Assembly Constituency remains with the government, more development will come as the NPF-led DAN government will come back to power under the leadership of the Chief Minister TR Zeliang and NPF President Dr. Shürhozelie.
Meanwhile, taking the opportunity of the presence of the Chief Minister during the inaugural function, Chozuba public submitted a representation requesting the establishment of Government College, construction of new GHSS building, shaded gallery in Chozuba local ground and a new rest house.
Short speeches were also delivered by chairman of Nagaland Honey Mission, Pusazo Luruo; former chairperson of Women Commission Sano Vamuzo; and Vaprumu Demo.
Home Minister, Y Patton; Minister of School Education & SCERT, Yitachu; Deputy Speaker Imtikumzuk; and host of government officials attended the programme.
