DIMAPUR — Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker Sharingain Longkumer made a courtesy call on Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan in New Delhi on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Khruohituonuo Rio, Secretary-In-Charge, NLA.


The Vice President was informed about the nine resolutions adopted at the recently concluded 22nd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-III Conference in Nagaland, said a delayed update received here on Friday.


The NLA Speaker also made a special reference to the agenda for the State of Nagaland mentioned by Chief Minister Neiphio Rio in his speech to the plenary House.

Acknowledging healthcare as one of the most important aspects for progress, Radhakrishnan expressed his support to the resolutions of the House with ‘special reference to upgrade of Kohima Medical College to a Central Institute like AIIMS/RIMS Imphal’, it was informed.


Longkumer and Khruohituonuo also called on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to apprise him about the successful conclusion of the conference and to officially submit the adopted resolutions.


He was also reminded of the announcement made by the late Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Union Budget 2015-16 for establishment of an Indian Institute for Scientific Research in Nagaland.
