NLA Speaker: Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker, Dr. Imtiwapang Aier is saddened over the sudden demise of late A. Oditemba Phom, former member of NLA, on July 17.
Late Phom prior to his entry into politics, worked as a teacher from 1958-1960 and served as Area Council Member, 1962 and Regional Council Member from 1964. He was elected as Member of the Second NLA from Tuensang Constituency in 1969, stated the speaker. Aier described him as a devoted public leader, who dedicated his life for the welfare of the people and a man of principle with strong determination. In his death, he lamented that the State has lost a committed leader in general and for the Phom tribe in particular.
The speaker on behalf NLA expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prays for the departed soul to rest in peace.
EPAN: The Ex-Parliamentarian Association of Nagaland (EPAN) has expressed sadness at the demise of late A. Oditemba Phom, Ex-MLA on July 17.
He was a Teacher from 1958–1960 prior to joining politics in 1969 from Tuensang Constituency, served as Area Council Member in 1962 and Regional Council Member in 1964. He was a dedicated leader who tirelessly worked for the upliftment of his people, the condolence message read.

YSU: The Yachem Students’ Union (YSU) mourned the untimely demise of late Oditenba Phom, Ex-MLA at his hometown Longleng on July 17.
Hailing from Yachem village, he was elected to Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) from 50 A/C Longleng in 1969 to become the first MLA among the Phom.
His service and contribution for the betterment of the society in different capacities will be greatly remembered by the Yachem Students’ Union (YSU) and with much pride, pay our rich tributes to our tall Late Leader. We pray that the seed he sown will be reap by the youngsters, added KSU.
