Dimapur, Oct. 6 (EMN): New Jalukie Village Council (NJVC) has strongly condemned the unlawful activities of the Ahthibung unit of 25 Assam Rifles under Peren district along with one police personnel for raiding at the house of one Belief Gonmei, secretary of village development board, on September 29 at wee hours at around 1:30 am on the pretext of search operation for arms and ammunitions.
A press release issued by the council chairman, Liangkebo, and the secretary, Akungbo, claimed that the team ransacked both household and public properties. It added that the team could not find any illegal possession of arms and ammunition in their futile exercise. To their embarrassment, it claimed that the secretary was made to sign NOC in the presence of his neighbor Hurangbo as witness.
The council has termed as the act of security personnel ‘shameful’ to harass innocent family members. The council also expressed dismay over the high handedness towards the innocent individuals and creating fear psychosis among the law abiding citizens of the village.
The council further warned not to repeat such activities in the village without the concern of the village authority in near future.
