Dimapur, June 10 (EMN): Niuland in Dimapur has now a community health centre to offer healthcare services to people of the area.
The principal secretary of the Health and Family Welfare department, I Himato Zhimomi, inaugurated on June 8 the community health center, said to have been upgraded from its status as a primary health center.
A press release from the organisers on Monday informed about the programme. Zhimomi addressed a function there that was conducted to mark the occasion.
The health official was stated to have reminded the members of the public to avail the health insurance provided by the central government in all the government health units. Zhimomi said that the newly upgraded health unit will have more doctors, nurses, staffs and equipments.
Dr. K Vikato Kinimi, chief medical officer, expressed gratitude to the state's government for the upgrade for the health center. “Health is wealth and if there is no sickness, the financial status of the society improves. With good financial status, better education to children can be provided and thus a well-educated people will build a good society," the press release quoted him as having said.
"Health is the back-bone of our economy as lots of money is spent on medical treatment. So therefore, maintain good relationships with the health workers at the CHC Niuland who will be taking care of your health.”
Athrila S, additional deputy commissioner for Niuland also addressed the event. She said that upgrading the health center was a long felt need of the people that has now been made possible. The upgradate will serve the health and medical needs of the public at Niuland, she said. The officer urged the public to have a sense of ownership and to nurture the community health center.
Further, Athrila said that the welfare of the medical staffs posted at the centre should be looked after by the public and that they should not be encumbered. Unless the public should show their support and interest in taking care of the establishment, facilities or augmented services will not be provided there in the future, she said.
