Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav calls for inclusive development and stronger coordination during his visit to Niuland district.

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Tuesday stressed that development must be inclusive and responsive to local needs, urging stakeholders to ensure that government initiatives reach every household.
Speaking during an interaction with civil society organisations and government officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Niuland town, the governor said coordination between civil society, village leaders and the district administration is essential to achieve meaningful outcomes.
According to a DIPR report, the visit was aimed at understanding the aspirations, challenges and priorities of people at the grassroots.
Referring to Niuland as one of the youngest districts in the state, Yadav said it holds “immense promise and potential” and called for careful nurturing in its formative years. He noted the sense of unity among different tribal bodies and community organisations, stating that such cooperation is vital for progress.

He also emphasised the need to maintain peace, strengthen community bonds and uphold values of integrity and responsibility, adding that development must be balanced with the preservation of cultural heritage and traditions.
The governor highlighted the role of community leaders, particularly GBs and tribal organisations, in guiding society and fostering cooperation, stating that their leadership would shape the district’s future. He expressed confidence that, with collective effort, Niuland could emerge as a model district.
During the programme, Dr. Rosemary Sema from the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Dr. O Amihe Swu from the School Education Department presented departmental achievements and challenges.
Short speeches were delivered by Vikato Achumi, president of Western Sumi Hoho; K Yimso, president of Yimkhiung Arihako Niuland; and Isawoto Zhimomi, president of Niuland District GBs Association. A folk song was presented by members of Niuland Town Sumi Totimi Loka.
The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, TL Kiusumong Tikhir.
