Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): Sumi Students’ Union Niuland Town (SSUNT) organised a cleanliness drive in Niuland town on July 24 on the theme “Our land, our duty.”
SSUNT information secretary, Hetoli Chophy, stated that students from Classes and above have participated in the cleanliness drive. The students cleaned the areas within the town and put up several banners of slogan in different places.
Speaking at the formal programme, SSUNT president T Kavika stressed that it is should be the duty of every individuals to keep the environment clean.
After the cleanliness drive, the union, in collaboration with Niuland police, undertook a surprise checking in all shops within the town. The combined team recovered many expired items- both eatable and non eatables during the surprise checking.
While emphasising on the important role of business community in the development of the community, T Kavika urged the business community to refrain from indulging in anti-social activities. He further warned that defaulters would penalised as per the provision of its constitution.
The union further sought cooperation from all right thinking citizen to do away with wrong practices in the near future in order to keep the town clean and healthy.
