Nitsuyan FC defeat Burma Camp FC 2-0 to win the 31st Lt. Nyamo Lotha and Lt. Daniel Lotha Running Football Trophy.

DIMAPUR — Nitsuyan FC lifted the Lt. Nyamo Lotha and Lt. Daniel Lotha Running Football Trophy 2026 after defeating Burma Camp FC 2-0 in the final. The 31st edition of the tournament was organised by the Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU).
With the victory, Nitsuyan FC received a cash prize of INR 1.50 lakh. The tournament commenced on October 29 at the Dimapur State Stadium Multi-Disciplinary Complex on the theme “Inspiring the Future, Remembering the Past”, with 11 teams competing for the trophy.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, special guest and President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Nagaland, and Dimapur Municipal Council Councillor V Khekato Awomi remarked that it was encouraging to see people coming together through sports, thanking the sponsoring families and the DLSU for supporting youth through football.
Highlighting the value of sports, he said, “Football is more than just a game. It teaches us teamwork, discipline and respect. No matter how talented one player is, success comes when everyone works towards a common goal. The same lesson applies to our everyday lives."
Addressing the players, he urged them to give their best and learn from their mistakes, reminding them that while winning is great, learning from one’s mistakes and improving is equally important.
In a message to the youth, Awomi said their time is now, adding that they are not just leaders of tomorrow but changemakers of today. He urged them to stop waiting for someone to give them a chance and instead create opportunities, turn ideas into action, and have the courage to stand up for what they believe in.
The future, he said, will not change through wishes but through actions.
“Rise up, step forward and take responsibility. Start today, lead with courage and prove through your actions that this generation is ready to make a difference. Let us not be remembered as youth who waited for the change but as youth who made it happen," he stated.
