Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): A two-day techno-cultural fest of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Chümoukedima, dubbed as ‘Ekarikthin 2022’ commenced on Wednesday. Individuals and students from various institutions took part in the various competitions.
N Sivakumaran, professor of Instrumentation and Control Engineering department from NIT Tiruchirappalli was the chief guest, and Bijaya Nanda Choudhury, registrar of NIT Meghalaya, was the guest of honour at the inaugural programme.
Speaking on the occasion, NIT director, S Venuhopal, shared that cultural exchange is one aspect of NIT to promote unity in diversity. He expressed that extra-curricular activities are required for overall growth of students.
Also speaking on the occasion, N Sivakumaran appreciated the organisers for co-ordinating the events. He urged the institute to invite more students and schools to participate in future.
Presentation of cultural dances and songs by various groups marked the event. Gideon Kithan and “The Cousins” also presented an item on the occasion.
Various sports activities and other competitions were held on the first day. The events included futsal, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, gully cricket, chess, CSGO, BGMI tournament, web design, dance, MLBB tournament, pick and place, ‘Voice of Ekarikthin’ etc.
Renowned dancers and artistes from Nagaland including Lam Grace and Dautu were the judge of the dance competition, while Meyisanen Lemtur and KL Pamei were the judges of ‘Voice of Ekarithin.’
On the second day, activities such as mountain biking, roadies, DOTA and COD tournament, dance battle, quiz buzz, cosplay, mud race, rockville and DJ night would be held.
