DIMAPUR — Nirmal Kumar Jain has denied allegations of illegal land procurement and fraudulent acquisition of Indigenous Certificate in Dimapur, calling them “baseless” and “malicious.”
In a statement issued through his lawyers on Wednesday, Jain said that he had refrained from responding earlier since the matter was sub judice and he was answerable only to the authority concerned.
However, he claimed that he was now compelled to clarify as the allegations continued to circulate in public domain.
Refuting the charge that he had obtained the Non-Naga Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland Certificate through fabricated documents, Jain said that the claim was false. He also dismissed allegations that he was a “criminal” and “land mafia,” stating they were based on assumptions and lacked evidence.

“It is settled principle of law that, without specific allegations as to when, where and how such act has been committed, a bare statement without proof cannot lead to an inference of the same,” he stated.
Jain alleged that the accusations were made with the intent to tarnish his image and defame him before society.
He further maintained that he had never been charge-sheeted for any criminal offence, nor convicted by any court in India.
