Nine inmates escape Mon district jail by scaling wall

Kohima, Nov. 19 (EMN): In a major embarrassment to the Mon district jail authorities, as many as nine inmates escaped the prison after scaling a wall in the early hours of Saturday.

Confirming this to Eastern Mirror over the telephone, Uniel Kichu, Superintendent of Police, Mon district, said that the incident happened around 1 am. He informed that nine prisoners escaped by the wall of the jail.

The police officer said that they are investigating the incident. The police had sounded alarm on the matter and trying their best to nab the escapees, he added.
