Dimapur, May 26 (EMN): The National Institute of Information and Technology (NIIT) at Dimapur conducted a press conference on May 25 at Hotel Europa Inn. The press conference was about the concept of Digital Transformation, future of Information Technology and banking.
The CEO of NIIT, Rahul Keshav Patwardhan, said 50 percent of the country’s population were youths. However, after ‘visiting many colleges,’ he found two issues where, he said, growth was happening in the country with good economy but people were still not getting jobs.
He said one of the main factors was the impact of technology and digital transformation which was allowing them to grow without requiring human resource leaving many jobless and secondly India’s IT sector where the profit margin of the companies are going down.
‘Digital transformation’ is happening not only in the Information Technology sector but in every digital sector in the economy, he said. If digital transformation and the application of technology are creating growth without adding new job, there must be a better job being created in every industry which may indeed require people to have digital technology skills.
Ajay Sethi, managing director of NIIT of Dimapur centre, also informed that their institute had helped place more than 3000 students from Nagaland in big companies like Wipro, Infosys within the country.
