
Renbomo Ezung addressing the gathering during the launch of
night carnival in Wokha town on Tuesday.
- WOKHA — A
five-day night carnival organised by the Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (WDCCI), in collaboration with the Wokha Village Youth Organisation
(WVYO), kicked off in Wokha town on Tuesday.
- The inaugural programme was attended by Renbomo Ezung,
deputy commissioner and administrator of Wokha Town Council (WTC), as the special
guest. In his address, Ezung congratulated the organisations for providing
platform to local business enthusiasts and individuals.
- He encouraged the upcoming entrepreneurs to give their best
and become skilled and professionals. He also requested all stall owners to
keep their surroundings clean, maintain hygiene, community-friendly and keep
Wokha town clean.
- Ezung reminded the attendees not to forget the birth of
Jesus Christ, stating that people often overlook the true meaning of
celebration. He urged the gathering to observe the event with peace, love and
unity and also discouraged focusing solely on intoxication during such events.
He further called for responsibility and wished everyone success in conducting
the event.
- Vungathung C Murry, president of WTCCI, in his presidential
address, informed that the concept of organising the carnival was to create
opportunities by providing platform for local entrepreneurs and the business
community of Wokha town to exhibit and sell their products. He said the event
would help and encourage the youth to showcase their talents and skills to the
community.
- A short speech was also delivered by Chumremo C Murry,
general secretary of WVYO, while guidelines for the stall owners were delivered
out by Ponathung Kikon, general secretary of WDCCI.
