Niathu hosts annual games festival

Dimapur, November 3: The Niathu Sports Festival 2016 got underway on Thursday, November 3, at the Niathu Resort at Chumukedima. Pastor Kenei Kiso of Life square church pronounced the invocation to mark the opening of the event. The three-day sports event is an initiative of the Corporate Social Responsibility program of the Niathu Group under the aegis of the Niathu Privilege Club. The first day of the event saw volleyball matches for both men and women. Five matches were played in volleyball and seven matches for women in said discipline. A highlight of the matches was the one between Razhaphe Basa and Langpangkong SC (women). In the women’s category, Langpangkong SC, Unity Friends Club, and Lampang Snulop won two matches each. In men’s, the Lamkang Brothers took two matches to emerge the winners. The games also saw 12 individuals participating in billiards grouped into two namely Group A and Group B. In Badminton 30 matches were played as well. The annual Niathu Sports festival is being held with the theme “Celebrating youth through sports”. The festival will conclude on November 5 at the resort.
