NHP team visits State

Dimapur, June 11 (EMN): A six member delegate from National Hydrology Project (NHP) visited the State on June 7 and 8 and held discussion with the State officials and also visited project implementation in the State. The team consisted of Senior Joint Commissioners Deepak Kumar and Neeraj Manglik, Nodal Officer Rajesh, Sc-C Raja Ram Purohit, CE CWC PM Scott, and World Bank Consultant Raj Singh. During the visit, a discussion was held at Dimapur in the presence of Bendangkokba, Commissioner & Secretary of Irrigation and Flood Control, along with Er. S Kughaho Sema, Chief Engineer of I&FC and other senior department officers. The team also made a field visit to Guage & Discharge Station on Chathe River at Chumukedima, Meteorological Station at 4th Mile, Dimapur, and Office of EE Investigation Cell, I&FC, Dimapur, which is entrusted for the Project Implementation in the State. The NHP Team apprised the State about the implementation of NHP, which is a pan-India programme initiated by Government of India with financial assistance from World Bank for improvement in the planning, development, and management of water resources as well as flood forecasting and reservoir operations in real time. The project duration is eight years beginning from 2017. The lead agency is Ministry of Water Resources, Ganga Rejuvenation & River Development, GOI, with 49 implementing agencies from all over the states. For Nagaland, Irrigation & Flood Control Department is the implementing agency.
