NHAK evolves action plan on Covid-19

Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): As preparatory measures, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) has developed an action plan to activate the facility as Covid-19 treatment centre when 50% bed at Chedema is occupied by Covid-19 positive patients.

This was disclosed by Dr. Thong during a review meeting held at NHAK in regard preparatory measures undertaken with special emphasis on Covid-19 at NHAK on April 2. Advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire along with deputy commissioner, Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie and Senior SP Kohima, K Sophie, and DTF members attended the meeting, a DIPR report stated on Thursday.

In the meeting, Dr. Thong informed that all general OPDs and operation of any nature would be suspended and only flu and related respiratory diseases be attended to in the designated OPD. He added that the office of the MD and MS, EOC and administrative establishments would be immediately shifted to the present Obs and Gynae ward.

Dr. Thong informed that no VIP accommodation would be provided owing to infrastructural constraints and as per the safety contingency plan. He added that no healthcare staff on duty would be allowed to leave the hospital premises during the entire duty period (1 week) and thereafter undergo compulsory institutional quarantine at the designated centre followed by home quarantine.

In the event of exhaustion of the available healthcare workers, he stated that manpower would be requisitioned from other unaffected districts as deemed fit by the department of Health and Family Welfare.

Dr. Thong also highlighted for provision of round-the-clock perimeter security to prevent escape of the infected patients that could endanger the public outside the NHAK Covid-19 hospital. He also stated that all admitted patients should observed all sanitary guidelines and respiratory etiquettes.

He further highlighted on the structure of emergency operational centre, planning, logistics, administration and finance and cordoning plan of zone-wise with its descriptions.
