Dimapur, Nov. 2 (EMN): The Tizit Area Students’ Union (Tasu) has announced an indefinite blockade on NH 702 from Nov. 5. In a statement issued on Friday, the union informed the decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the Tasu’s federating units and council chairmen of villages in Tizit area. The decision, it stated, was prompted ‘as there is no response from the state government regarding construction of inter-state connectivity road from Tizit town via Yanpan-Sakho-Loakkun-Nokzang-Khonsa (Arunachal Pradesh) and four RCC T-Beam bridges which has been abandoned’; and for not speeding the construction of Namtola-Mon road (NH-702) despite a 20-day deadline served earlier to the government. The meeting resolved not to lift the blockade until the department and the contractors concerned start the work. “The house also decided to intensify the blockade by resorting to even disallow the functioning of government mechanism under Tizit if needed,” it stated. According to the union, personnel from the administration, paramilitary and police, medical and “institutions” are exempt from the purview of the shutdown.
