Kohima, July 9 (EMN): The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kohima in collaboration with PWD (NH) has undertaken restoration works at the sinking area which cut off the NH-29 (Kohima-Dimapur road) below Avilie Petrol Pump in Kohima on Monday, July 9.
According to DDMA officials, one residential house was dismantled on Monday and another will be dismantled on Tuesday for the fresh cutting of road to commence. Emergency relief was said to have been given to two affected families and the landowners as well.
However, because of the restoration works, vehicular traffic will remain closed on the said stretch of road. Vehicles travelling to and from Kohima will be be diverted in the alternative routes: via Jotsoma village for light and medium vehicles going down towards Dimapur and via Forest Colony Kohima for heavy vehicles, while light and medium vehicles coming from Dimapur side will be directed to take the Peducha-Chesema road.
It may be noted here that most of the roads in the state have been either eroded away or or in serious jeopardy because of the heavy monsoon rains .
