DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner of Kohima has issued a fresh order allowing limited vehicular movement along the partially restored section of National Highway 29 near the old KMC dumping site (Chainage KM 175.350), which was severely affected by landslides.
According to the order issued on Friday, light motor vehicles (LMVs) and vehicles on medical emergency duty will be permitted to ply through the affected stretch between 6 am and 6 pm, subject to weather conditions. However, the highway will remain closed to all vehicular traffic during night hours.
The movement of heavy vehicles—including goods carriers, water tankers, paramilitary vehicles, and inter-district transport—will remain strictly prohibited on the damaged stretch until further notice.

To ease the traffic situation and ensure smooth restoration works, the order stated that the Jotsoma bypass will remain open for light motor vehicles.
Heavy vehicles (6-wheelers only) and other district-bound traffic, including commercial and paramilitary vehicles, will be diverted via Peducha Bridge–Tsiesema (10 Mile) Road.
Stating that the order has been issued to ensure public safety and the smooth execution of emergency operations and ongoing restoration work, the DC warned that violation will be prosecuted under relevant sections of law.
