Dimapur, May 8 (EMN): While stating that it was not against the government developmental activities, NH 29 Land Owners’ Union (Purana Bazaar to Chumoukedima) stated that due compensation should be paid as it is an inalienable rights which cannot be deprived at any cost.
NH 29 land Owners’ Union stated this in a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, in the presence of Executive Engineer PWD (NH), Kohima Division; Revenue Officer, Dimapur; Land Record & Survey Officer, Dimapur; along with the area chairmen and GBs of the village concerned along NH-29 from Purana Bazaar to Chumukidema and other officials from DC office.
The Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, after a patient hearing, assured the aggrieved land owners union to have a separate meeting at the earliest without involving the third party.
The union, in a press release issued by its information secretary Kewetso Kenye, has taken umbrage over the statement of EAC Chumoukedima, who reportedly stated that “the question of land compensation did not arises.” The union has termed the statement as a direct challenge to the judgement order issued by Guwahati High Court (Kohima Branch). The union, however, assumed that such blatant press release could issued be out of ignorance.
