Dimapur, Feb. 10: Nagaland GBs’ Federation (NGBF), while urging all concerned to reconsider their decision on calling indefinite bandh from February 13, appealed the State government and tribal organisations to solve the ongoing crisis in a democratic manner and not bring tribal or political colours.
NGBF made this appeal considering the plight of common man, who are made to bear the brunt in the event of imposing such bandh. NGBF, being representative from a grass-root level, requested the government and tribal organisations to solve the on-going crisis in a democratic manner and not to bring tribal or political colours. While acknowledging the decision of the government to nullify ULB elections conducted on February 1, NGBF appealed the security forces to maintain their normal duties and avoid unnecessary confrontation.
The Federation president Shalem Konyak, general secretary Shikuto Zalipu and the vice presidents W Mero and Alamtoshi felt that mushrooming of new tribal organisations at this juncture was not a healthy sign which might dislodge the fabric of Naga society in future.
NGBF also requested to let the government machineries function and internet services to resume also allowed schools, colleges to function without hindrance. NGBF further informed all the GBs in Nagaland to safeguard the State's properties, restraint the youth from violence activities but promote peace and harmony.
