DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Directorate of Food and
Civil Supplies has announced a mandatory eKYC deadline for all beneficiaries
under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013.
- According to a circular issued on Thursday, all
beneficiaries must complete the eKYC process by December 31, 2024.
- The eKYC exercise aims to identify and remove non-existent
or non-authenticated beneficiaries from the NFSA database. Beneficiaries can
complete the eKYC process at any Fair Price Shop (FPS) in the state or country
using their Aadhaar-linked biometric information. Lists of beneficiaries who
have not yet completed the eKYC process are available at the respective
district offices, the circular stated.
- It also directed all FPSs in the state to remain open until
the eKYC process is completed, and allow all the beneficiaries which includes
the migrant workers (beneficiaries of other states) to complete the eKYC
procedure. The government has updated the Public Distribution System (PDS) to
allow beneficiaries to complete their eKYC at any FPS nationwide, to benefit
the migrant workers and those facing travel difficulties, it said.
- “The eKYC implementation process is being monitored by the Ministry
on regular basis and necessary action shall be initiated against the defaulting
Fair Price Shops for failing to adhere to the directives of the Department,”
the circular stated.
- Further, it warned that failure to complete the eKYC process
by the deadline will result in the removal of beneficiaries from the existing
ration cards.
