Dimapur, Dec. 13 (EMN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been taking several initiatives to improve freight transportation and to provide a better customer interface.
Among such initiatives, few more stations have been opened for handling of both outward and inward goods traffic during the month of November, informed an update from the NFR issued on Dec. 13.
To improve customer interface and further augment freight transportation, New Mal Jn. station under Alipurduar division has been opened for handling of inward Iron and Steel Consignment (Crane Consignment) w.e.f Nov. 2.
While, Agthori station under Lumding division, has been opened for handling inward NMG rake for three months w.e.f Nov. 7. Chongajan station under Lumding division has also been opened for handling of outward coal traffic w.e.f Nov. 9.
Also, Mohitnagar goods shed under Katihar division has been opened for handling of both outward and inward B.F. Slag and Clinker traffic w.e.f Nov. 11. Lamsakhang station under Lumding division has also been opened for handling of outward coal traffic w.e.f Nov. 17
Further, Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service, a Joint Parcel Product (JPP) of India Post and Railways has been launched with the objectives to expand the model of ‘Rail Post Gati Shakti,’ the update informed.
Over NFR, two originating and destination pairs for JPP extension have been identified between Howrah to Guwahati and New Delhi to Guwahati.
With the implementation of JPP transportation of parcels from originating and to destination can be done in a seamless and speedy way benefitting traders as well as common people.
Improvement of customer interface and opening of new terminals leads to increased loading and unloading of freight trains.
As a result of which, revenue of NFR will significantly grow in the coming years, the update further informed.
