Northeast Frontier Railway will operate four pairs of festival special trains between October and December 2026 to facilitate passenger travel during Puja, Diwali and Chhath.
DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will operate four pairs of festival special trains to facilitate passenger travel during the upcoming Puja, Diwali and Chhath festival season.
Train No. 05742/05741 (New Jalpaiguri–Gomti Nagar–New Jalpaiguri) will operate from October 4 to November 30, 2026, with nine trips in each direction. Train No. 07555/07554 (Katihar–Purnia–Katihar) will run daily from October 1 to November 30, with 61 trips in each direction, the NFR stated in an update.
Train No. 07540/07539 (Katihar–Manihari–Katihar) will operate from October 2 to November 30, with 43 trips in each direction, while Train No. 07544/07543 (Katihar–Manihari–Katihar) will run from October 1 to December 1, with 18 trips in each direction.
Train No. 05742 (New Jalpaiguri–Gomti Nagar) will depart New Jalpaiguri at 8:30 a.m. every Sunday and reach Gomti Nagar at 9:10 a.m. the following Monday. The return service, Train No. 05741, will depart Gomti Nagar at 12:20 p.m. every Monday and arrive at New Jalpaiguri at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
The train will halt at several important stations, including Siliguri Junction, Thakurganj, Araria Court, Purnia, Katihar, Mansi, Khagaria, Samastipur, Hajipur, Chhapra and Gorakhpur.
Train No. 07555 (Katihar–Purnia) will depart Katihar daily at 9:30 p.m. and reach Purnia at 10:40 p.m. The return train, No. 07554, will depart Purnia at 11:40 p.m. and reach Katihar at 2 a.m. It will stop at Dalan, Rautara and Ranipatra.
Train No. 07540 (Katihar–Manihari) will depart Katihar at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, reaching Manihari at 8 p.m. The return train, No. 07539, will depart Manihari at 3:15 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, arriving at Katihar at 4:15 a.m. Stoppages will be provided at Mansahi and Mahiyarpur.
Train No. 07544 (Katihar–Manihari) will depart Katihar at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, reaching Manihari at 9:30 p.m. The return service, No. 07543, will depart Manihari at 5 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays, reaching Katihar at 6 a.m., with stoppages at Mansahi and Mahiyarpur.
The NFR said details of stoppages and timings are available on the IRCTC website and are also being published through newspapers and the railway’s social media platforms. Passengers have been advised to verify the details before undertaking their journey.
