NFR Special Task Force seize smuggled goods worth INR 17.5 lakh

Dimapur, Sep. 13 (EMN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Special Task Force (STF) of Commercial department has seized a huge quantity of contraband "foreign cigarettes" worth INR 12 lakh from Tripura Sundari Express at Lumding railway station. Informing this in a press release on Friday, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda said the team led by the Asst. Commercial Manager D J Barman conduction a search on specific information. It may be mentioned that the NFR Commercial department formed the STF on  August 13, as a part of a special initiative for Chanda also informed that the STF had recovered foreign-made cigarettes worth INR 5.5 lakh at Guwahati Railway station on August 18 from Guwahati–Lokmanya Tilak Terminas Express. in this connection, five persons were arrested for trying to transport the goods with false declaration in the Parcel Way Bill. The team not only checks ticketless travel, activities of touts and false declaration of goods being transported but also keeps close vigil on child abuse and human trafficking in railway premises, CPRO said.
