Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has seized contraband items worth about INR 12.72 lakh.
An update made available to the media on Monday, informed that the contraband items including cannabis, drugs, liquor and stolen rails, measuring tape, foreign made garments were recovered during regular checks and special drives at various stations and trains from September 23 to October 9.
During this period, the RPF rescued 45 children at different stations and handed them over to their respective Childline centres.
Two stolen Enfield motor cycles were recovered by the team.
Acting on information received from sources regarding theft of rails from Lumding- Patharkhola section on September 23, Crime Investigation Branch (CIB) team of RPF Lumding apprehended one person with stolen rail materials.
Similarly, on the following days, Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) team of CIB, Guwahati apprehended vehicles theft and for possession of contrabands.
