Dimapur, Jan. 9 (EMN): To encourage local entrepreneurs, the Northeastern Frontier Railway (NFR) is organising exhibitions of items which are used in various departments of railways at various locations.
The exhibition is being organised with an aim to promote “Make in India” initiative launched the prime minister of India. It is expected that local small and medium entrepreneurs would be benefited with the initiative of NFR, an update from the chief public relation officer (PRO), Subhanan Chanda, stated on Saturday.
It stated that NFR is organising various exhibitions in locations like Rangiya, New Bongaigaon under Rangiya division, at Alipurduar Junction under Alipurduar division, at Tinsukia under Tinsukia division and at Katihar under Katihar division.
It added that various items which are used for safety related purpose are being displayed at an exhibition organised by the Rangiya division. Those items could be manufactured locally by local vendors. It also stated that necessary specifications and guidance could also be provided, if required.
Similarly, exhibitions were also held at places like Katihar, Alipurduar Junction and Tinsukia on January 8, where various RDSO (research design and standards organisation) approved critical/ safety items with low vendor-base were displayed for encouragement and development of prospective local vendors.
The release stated that the exhibition at Alipurduar and Tinsukia divisions was inaugurated by the divisional railway managers and exhibition at Katihar was inaugurated by an additional divisional railway manager.
Display of about 50 items (selected RDSO items with low vendor base) were kept at the exhibition venues for guidance and information of the prospective local vendors, it stated.
The release also stated that the exhibitions have received overwhelming response from prospective vendors. NFR hoped that employment opportunity as well as the local economy would also get a boost within its jurisdiction with increasing number of local vendors.
