DIMAPUR – With a view to ensure comfortable journey to the passengers travelling in general second class, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced the facility of affordable meals and packaged drinking water.
The economy meals, snacks/combo meals would be provided through extended service counters, which would be stationed at platforms near general second-class coaches. The meals would be supplied from the refreshment rooms (RRs) and Jan Ahaars (JAs) of IRCTC, informed NFR chief PRO, Sabyasachi De.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The chief PRO informed that 64 railway stations in various zones have been identified for offering economic meals and packaged drinking water to the passengers near the general second class coaches. Of the total, seven stations under NFR where economical/ affordable meals and packaged drinking water would be available are New Coochbehar, New Alipurduar, Katihar, New Tinsukia, Kamakhya, Naharlagun and Rangiya stations.
Report stated that the facility of service counters at the platforms has been done on an experimental basis for a period of six months.
It further stated that more stations are being identified and would be covered for provision of extended service counters progressively for the availability of the economy meals and water.
